Ettrick and Yarrow Community Council, along with Hawick, Denholm & District, Lilliesleaf, Ashkirk & Midlem, and Upper Teviotdale & Northwick Water, Community Councils all signed a Community Benefit agreement which is now with Greatcoat UK Wind PLC and the name of the wind farm has been changed to Langhope Rig Wind Farm Ltd and these five Community Councils are in receipt of an annual payment for the lifetime of the wind farm project (25 years).
The Community Benefit Fund is administered by Foundation Scotland. The Fund is separated into two separate sub funds A and B.

Sub Fund B is managed by EYCC and applications can be made direct to the EYCC.
Applications are considered by the full community council, meeting in private, following a public meeting. Applicants have an opportunity to give a brief presentation or answer any questions prior to the private meeting. The results of the applications are reported in the minutes of the meeting. If a community councillor has any link to the applicants, they may be present at the discussion but not participate in any vote.
